Our Founder

The Morning Star School was established by the late Mrs. Esme Praah Siriboe. After her elementary and secondary education at Saltpond, Juaso and Kumasi respectively, she obtained a scholarship to attend Achimota School for her pre-college education. She excelled and gained admission to the University of London’s Institute of Education, UK and also the Cornell University Institute of Child Psychology in New York, USA for further training.

Later on in life she chose to broaden her scope of knowledge in Christian Education and subsequently pursued courses at the Child Evangelism Training Institute in Ghana and the John Haggai Christian Institute in Singapore.

She possessed qualifications in both social work and teaching and worked assiduously in various capacities in Ghana. She was an advocate for women empowerment and girl-child education and was an executive member of the Centre for Civic Education.

As a founder, teacher and school administrator of The Morning Star School, her untiring efforts as an exemplary leader and educator, enabled the school to grow and it also enjoyed a reputation of excellence both locally and internationally.

From a Nursery and Kindergarten in 1965, the school by 1970 had a complete primary education facility and her first set of candidates sat for the Common Entrance Examination. By 1992 she had established the Junior High School.

At the time of her death she had successfully managed the affairs of the school for almost three decades.

Her generosity and community service knew no bounds. She served in various capacities at the executive level of several organisations and supported them financially. Some of the beneficiaries were:

  • The Osu Children’s Home (Orphanage)
  • Ghana Girl Guides Association (Chief Commissioner for three consecutive terms),
  • The Ghana Bible Society (Vice Chairperson),
  • World Vision International, Ghana (Member, Advisory Council)

Presently, her school is expanding its educational programmes to establish The Morning Star International High School, which will offer the globally recognised Cambridge International Curriculum. These are the International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the Advanced Level Programme (A Level).

Mrs. Esme Siriboe set a high standard for professionals in the education industry, both in Ghana and abroad and is fondly remembered for her distinguished service to her school and country.
